I am apparently loosing my mind. Now, I've never HEARD of early-onset dementia as a possible p___ symptom, so perhaps I just am well and truly crazy. How else can I explain?
- Strapping my cast on the wrong leg and not noticing until I was upstairs trying to put on my shoe.
- Telling the same person twice.
- Losing the ability to complete a sentence.
- Being strangely relieved at each and every symptom and incredibly dismayed when there are none. Also, each and every symptom is evaluated as a potential harbinger of doom. I don't give myself an out here.
- Fits of random giddy.
- Tone of my book changing--seriously--my voice is stuck somewhere in Cincinnati trying to get a flight home while my poor brain eeeks out a word at a time
- Becoming a total iVillage junkie in less than a week. Remember that whole plan I had to kick my internet addiction? And how well it worked for three months? Almost four? All bets are off now. I seriously find posts with such dizzying, garish signatures more interesting than well . . .anything. IQ drops 10 points after every visit. We're talking multiple visits a day too. I expect to be a vegetable sometime very soon.
- Developing a fondness for commercials. This after almost a decade of not watching network TV except in cases of national emergencies/elections/Olympics.
- The sudden urge to own Midwest Real Estate.
- Inability to finish a movie without falling asleep. But having insomnia most nights.
- Turning each bathroom visit into a religious experience. Tea leaves have been less examined than my T.P. Which, I know is way TMI, but still, I expected to be worshiping the porcelain god, just not quite like this.
So, yeah, I'm still here. 5 weeks and some odd days. And freaking crazy. I'd promise something about my job v soon, but I'm still working on the whole ability to think-about-something else thing. Soon though. I hope. Otherwise, Beta (as in Beta testing) will be visiting me at the funny farm. Or joining me in the poor house. Any ideas for distractions?
Sounds pretty normal for a hormone surge to me :) [Based on friends experiences, not mine of course]

Poor hormonal baby. its normal. you are in the middle of a powersurge of hormones. it will clear up. You will get used to having WAY more female hormones than usual. Or you won't. either way, its not a permanent thing.
As for distractions, read. write. keep me from going nuts (trial in 2 weeks). write stories for children. work on your classes. read law stuff. nap.
BTW, insomnia is pretty normal too. did you have it as a teenager? you may think about a pre-bedtime ritual (ie, take shower, put on jammies, set out morning tea supplies, fill kettle with water, put on lotion..ect). this may take your brain some time to train itself that this ritual means you are going to sleep. No caffiene after 4, and no naps after 3. nap for only 45 minutes top end if you cannot function.
Remember how flaky I was in law school? I had a lot on my mind then, and I could not remember where I parked sometimes.
keep us all informed. AND PUT DOWN THE DARN LAPTOP.

Pregnancy kills brain cells. Didn't you know that? Oh, yeah. Kills 'em. Big time (I should know).
Might as well say goodbye to them now. They're gone for good. ;) And it only gets worse from here...

Kiss your mind goodbye- the little bean just robs you of all your gray matter - it comes back maybe 6 months after birth. And when it does, it's never the same.
Sigh, I know.

Not having been pregnant myself, I can only tell you that your "syndrome" is one which my mother, my sister, and several friends call "Pregnancy Head." Good luck with that!

I just checked in and heard the news! I am very happy for you and like everyone wish you a healthy and happy time for the next several months.
I like the one about putting your cast on the wrong leg. That's a good one.

Oh yeah, you get CRS when your PG and you also seem to drop everything, which at 8 & 9 months makes for interesting ways to pick things up off the floor. At least for the first one. After that you have the oldest sibling pick it up for you! :)
