Second Trimester Here We Go

Somehow, here I am at the second trimester shaking my head and going,"What? Really?" I am slowly rejoining humanity after malaise we shall not speak of. I had our second midwife appointment on Wednesday.  I am feeling much more confident with our decision to go with this practice. Unlike last time, I did a TON of research, looked at two birth centers, 3 hospitals, and a host of provider options. I went with the group that I pretty much thought I would, but I'm glad for my research.

We brought the hurricane that is Tavy since Freak wanted to hear the heart beat, and I wanted him there because I'm still not sure this is entirely real. Rather than giving you the boring stats, I will give you Tavy's running commentary since she did. not. stop. talking.

"Where Mama?"

"Mama on dat couch!"

"Mama NAKID!" (not really!)

"Mama where you clothes?"

"Mama need pants! Shoes!"

"I go Mama! Now!"

"I touch Mama hair!" (She was extremely distraught by me on the table.  I think she might have been having flashbacks to my gallbladder surgery.)

"I see Mama belly!"

"I need lotion on MY belly!"

"Dat Mama baby in der!"

"Come out baby! Come out!" 

"Mama  need more lotion!"

"Baby do shaker! Shake, shake, shake!"

"Dat Mama baby!"

"I hears it!"

"Mama nakid!"

"I see mama under dat sheet!"

"Mama! You need clothes!" (plaintively from behind the screen) 

"Mama all DONE!"

"I need Juice!"

"Mama! Here you pants! Shoes! Shirt! Now!"

"We go now!"

Needless to say, next appointment her royal highness will not be invited. And while I am sure that many, many children her age have happily attended births,  I am pretty sure that the shy bean who took a long time to show us the heartbeat would not come out with Marvelous Marv Alberts toddler labor commentary.

You can always have someone bring her in immediately before the baby is born or just after. You know I've got chatty kids but they just sat quietly and stared. It was amazing.

Congrats... I haven't been on this blog for a while, too tired with my 1 y.o.... just thinking about having a 2nd baby makes gives me goose bumps... because I'm not yet used to my 1st one yet... Keep updating! Are you having the baby in a hospital setting?
